Matrox Announces Low-Profile, Multi-Channel SDI Card with High-Performance Hardware Processing

New Matrox X.mio3 PCIe video card for developers offers up to eight reconfigurable SDI I/Os with on-board scaling, compositing and motion-adaptive de-interlacing, from SD to 4K

Montreal — March 18, 2014 — Matrox® Video today announced the Matrox X.mio3 LP SDI video card, part of the next generation of Matrox DSX Developer Products. X.mio3 LP is a low-profile, half-length PCIe card that offers up to eight reconfigurable I/Os, from SD to 4K. Multi-channel hardware processing accelerates compute-intensive operations including motion-adaptive de-interlacing, up/down/cross scaling and mixing/compositing for all resolutions. When configured with inputs, the card is equipped with built-in frame synchronizers to generate clean SDI signals for any environment.

Matrox X.mio3 LP is the ideal hardware platform for OEMs who need to create advanced yet compact channel-in-a-box systems, video servers, broadcast graphics systems, encoders, transcoders, multiviewers, switchers and other digital media equipment. Comprehensive development tools in the Matrox DSX SDKs for Windows® or Linux® include versatile file reading/writing, memory management, streaming synchronization, and a large selection of software codecs and effects. A prototyping tool provides a graphical representation of all hardware components so developers can simulate and test their use cases within minutes, before writing a single line of code. From a single development effort, broadcast equipment manufacturers can create a variety of products at a full range of price/performance levels.

"With the launch of the X.mio3 card, we are the first OEM supplier to provide everything needed for full multi-channel SD, HD and 4K broadcast solutions in high-density, low-profile cards," said Alberto Cieri, senior director of sales and marketing, Matrox. "OEMs can now cost-effectively pack an unprecedented number of I/Os channels with advanced hardware processing into 1RU and blade servers.”

Matrox products will be demonstrated at CCBN (China International Exhibition Center, Beijing, March 20-22 in Matrox distributor Beijing Jinzhongheng Tech’s booth 5103) and at the 2014 NAB Show (Las Vegas, April 7-10, booth SL5019).
